Science is always a hands on experience for my class. We would often dress like "scientists" in lab coats and goggles which would indicate to the students that we no longer acted, spoke, or thought like kindergarteners. They were expected to think and speak using the understanding and vocabulary a scientist would use. Students looked at science as a fun time to pretend, when in fact they were using the concepts taught to them, and the proper vocabulary introduced. I found students were able to recall more concepts taught when using this role playing method because they had motivation to remember vocabulary and concepts in order to talk and act like a scientist.
