To help with both reading and writing skills I enjoy using sorts to help children distinguish between letters, sounds, rhymes, and blends. It also helped expand their phonics skills, vocabulary, and spelling. Students work on a sort every week that has a mini lesson focus to it. Students are expected to sort the words/pictures correctly by the end of the week and write the words if the words are not present.
