Language Arts: Writing in the Primary Grades

Writing rubrics were taught and used throughout the school year.  To remind non reading students what was expected of them when writing, I made writing tool sticks that showed pictures which represented each portion of the writing rubric.  These tool sticks were at arms reach for them at all times in the classroom.
